Family Friendly Restrooms

The Family Friendly Restroom Team’s (FFRT) mission is to significantly raise the number of Sisters restrooms that provide clean and safe facilities for both children and their caregivers, regardless of their age and physical limitations. This can be achieved by providing local businesses with the option to install diaper changing stations, toddler potty seats, hand-washing stools, and other washroom amenities for free or at a reduced cost.

We recognize that this vital community amenity is not always top-of-mind, nor affordable, for small business owners. Our team of volunteer parents, grandparents, caregivers, and allies aims to overcome these barriers to bathroom inclusivity in a positive and community-building manner. In exchange for their commitment to family-friendliness, we will provide participating businesses with storefront signage highlighting their FFRT-AFSC approved amenities.

We also plan to partner with local agencies to map and showcase the town's new array of family-friendly restrooms to tourists and local citizens.

Support from C4C’s Momentum Grant, a City of Sisters Community Grant, and the Rotary Club of Sisters has provided funding for a total of ten restroom enhancements at Fika Sisters Coffeehouse, Luckey’s Woodsman, Suttle Tea, Eurosports, High Camp Taphouse, Martolli’s Pizza, Sisters Dino Market, Sisters Depot — and most recently the Sisters Art Station and Lake Creek Lodge/Host Supper Club

Additionally, following encouragement and advocacy from FFRT, local business and city leaders have independently installed new changing tables at Ski Inn, St. Charles Family Care Clinic, Sisters Bakery, Barclay Park, and the Sisters Makers building.

FFRT ultimately aims to reach or exceed 20 changing table installations either through direct installation or by working with more local businesses and organizations to install their own changing table facilities.
