STARS
After five years of fiscal sponsorship from AFSC, the Sisters Transportation and Ride Share team (STARS) successfully transitioned to its own independent nonprofit organization in August 2024, and they are still going strong. STARS volunteers offer ride services from Sisters to non-emergency medical appointments in Sisters, Bend, and Redmond. STARS offers passengers social support and helps them to live independently.
Seniors, people with disabilities and others in Sisters Country who cannot drive themselves need to get to medical appointments. You can help!
Volunteers:
Drive your own vehicle to help others—(Drivers)
Use your own phone and computer to book rides for passengers —(Dispatchers)
Set your own flexible schedule and choose to drive or dispatch when you are available
Are trained on very easy-to-use online software to book or accept rides
Make a lot of people very happy!!
